Two best friends. Ten Christmases. One happy ending.

When best friends Alexandra and Lucas share a first kiss on Christmas night their senior year of high school, it feels like the best years of their lives are ahead of them.

Then Alex goes off to college, and Lucas stays behind to work at his dad’s construction business in the small beach town where they grew up. Life, as they say, happens. And somewhere along the way these two high school sweethearts find they don’t have as much in common as they once did.

Lucas’s life is on Beaufort Island, and Alex is all about getting away and moving on. So he makes one of the hardest decisions of his life and lets her go.

But every year when Alex comes home for the holidays, fate conspires to reunite the two former lovebirds on Christmas Day. Year after year, through good times and bad, Lucas and Alex meet up, catch up, and reconnect on the anniversary of their first kiss.

Is it too much to hope that one year they’ll find their way back to each other permanently?

Maybe even this Christmas.

Fantastic

I love this book. I love how this author was able to put ten plus years on this book and make it all make since and not feel like anything was left out. It all starts out the year Alex and Lucas are set to graduate and start to date. Then goes through ten years of many ups and downs? The thing is are they strong enough to make it through? Do they meet other people? Are that able to keep the the same friendship? This is just a book that you need to read to see what all happens and how life can change thing. And not just their life but there parents and siblings. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fast-paced and moving story

Alex and Lucas are best friends in high school, when they start dating. They stay together until Alex leaves for college, while Lucas stays home to work for his dad and attend community college. Lucas sets her free, and Alex doesn’t think twice about it, because she’s ready to experience all that college has to offer. Their group of friends gets together every Christmas holiday to have a bonfire at the beach and catch up. Some years are awkward, while others are better. There are some good friends that also return each year, and it’s possible that there are other stories about them, but that’s just a guess. This story offers a glimpse into each of their lives every Christmas for 10 subsequent years. It’s not a very long story, yet there is enough detail given in each chapter to give the reader an adequate snapshot of each of their lives and their motivations. They grow and change and mature, and perhaps appreciate each other a bit more after each separation. No spoilers here, but this story had surprising depth for its brevity. The pacing moves along, because each new chapter occurs one year later. It’s an effective way of telling this story. This is an enjoyable read. The ending is satisfying and somewhat inevitable. Nonetheless, the ending isn’t fully clear until the final chapter. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great Holiday Short Romance Novella

I have read Susannah’s previous books and they never disappoint. The cute cover and intro to the book made we want to immediately get immerse in this one! I knew it was going to be short BUT it is still a story that is done throughout 10 years. Here we get to meet Alex and Lucas. They have been good friends and before going their way to college the moment is right, sparks fly, and they share a kiss. And here begins the story which is a story not just of a romance but of the way the grow and mature more and more each year. A story of self-discovery and finding what you want in life and how to make it work. Finding out what is worth fighting for and how to make the changes to make it happen. The story not just includes them, but their friends and family as well and these stories also add to the plot but also to their personality development. My only wish was that there was more!

Nix has quickly become a favorite of mine, an absolute one-click for me. This novella is a sweet, friends to lovers, second chance romance that truly gets you in all the feels. We follow Alex and Lucas over the span of a decade, through some ups, downs, and personal growth, as they navigate their adult world. It’s very well written and Nix touches on relationships with true to form and realistic expectations. I absolutely adored Lucas. He’s sweet, funny, and oh so caring. His tenderness and soft heart will make you swoon. I wish I could keep him! Alex came off a little self absorbed but what young adult from a small town, dying to get out in the real world after graduation isn’t? We all said we’d “keep in touch” but how often does that ring true? It was nice to see their group of friends try and keep their Christmas Day at the beach tradition alive over the years. Even though this is only a novella, it is chock full of emotion. My only wish was that there was more!

Nix’s Maybe This Christmas is a sweet and angsty romance about Alexandra (Alex) Bonner and Lucas O’Hare. It starts on Christmas Day in the year 2010 as they’re seniors in high school and continues every year until 2019. It’s well written, the characters are amazing, the chemistry is there, it’s has all the feels and it’s got a great ending. I just love how the story plays out every year on Christmas Day only. Kudos to Ms Nix! I definitely recommend this book and author. A 5+ for sure! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced readers copy๐Ÿ’‹

Sweet coming of age story!

I always enjoy Susannah's writing and this did not disappoint. I liked that each chapter was a sequential Christmas. This was different than her other books - it had a more YA feel, but the writing was amazing as always. It's a sweet, clean, coming of age story that happens to take place on Christmas Day. It has a HEA and little drama.

And let’s hope that MAYBE THIS CHRISTMAS they get it right and all the stars in the sky are aligned and the sparks may fly again so they can finally be togher. *ARC provided by the author via BookFunnel.

Amazing story ❤️

Love how Alex and Lucas’s story spans throughout different years. Love the connection between the two of them and how they kept in touch with each other. Their ending is beautiful.
